Community Speed Watch volunteers monitoring traffic

Community Speed Watch is a partnership between the police, local authority and local community. Local residents are taught to use a speed detection device to monitor the speed of vehicles travelling through their communities. Specialised Training Services Essex Ltd. has been contracted to teach volunteers in the Essex area. Click on the appropriate link under the “Community” tab above to find out more information.

 

 

Community Speed Watch Scheme.

The course developed by Specialised Training Services Essex Ltd. lasts about three hours and covers the following:

 

  • Neighbourhood policing.
  • Personal safety / codes of conduct.
  • Communication skills.
  • Working at the roadside.
  • Using the speed detection device.
  • Recording details.

 

The participants also receive an extensive fully illustrated instruction manual.
